Fernandina Beach

Old Town Historic District

Once home to freebooters and smugglers, Old Town is the original town of Fernandina Beach. Located just north of the Historic District. This historic site is roughly bounded by Towngate Street, Bosque Bello Cemetary, Nassau St, Marine St, and Ladies St. In 1990, Old Town was added to the National Registry of Historic Places. During the early 1860’s, the first cross-state railroad was built. This shifted the town to where it sits today along Centre Street. Since this shift, Old Town has become primarily a residential neighborhood boasting beautiful homes on lots that preserve the 1811 Spanish plan.
