HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS
Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends September 30 every year. That doesn't mean that we can't experience hurricane activity before or after those dates. Our goal is to make sure you are informed so we've created some preparedness tips. Check them out below.

Prepare an emergency kit with:
- Non-perishable food and water for at least 3 days
- First aid supplies and medications
- Flashlights, batteries, and a battery-powered radio
- Cash
Stay up to date w/ local warnings
- Monitor weather forecasts and updates from trusted sources
- Sign up for local emergency alerts
- Have a NOAA Weather Radio for real-time updates
Prepare Your Home Before Storm
- Take pictures of your home before hurricane season starts. If there’s any damage during a hurricane these pictures will help insurance companies
- Secure windows and doors with storm shutters or plywood
- Bring in outdoor furniture and secure loose items
- Trim trees and shrubs to minimize damage
- Keep a back up supply of water
- Clear out drains and gutters
- If you have home generator, make sure to have it serviced or at minimum check to make sure it’s working properly.
Prepare For Evacuation
- Know your areas vacuation route
- Have a plan for pets
- Charge all electronic devices and have backup power sources
- Keep a list of emergency contacts
- Use social media responsibly to stay updated and inform others of your status
- Unplug electronic devices in your home before leaving
