Breathtaking Beaches

Fernandina Beach

The beautiful historic city of Fernandina Beach is located in the northern section of Amelia Island, and stretches down along the coast. This area has a rich history, with a number of buildings and landmarks appearing on the National Register of Historic Places. The first European settlers arrived in the 16th century, although the first inhabitants were the Timucua people—the largest indigenous group in the area. Now Fernandina Beach is known for its stunning beaches, historic district, and luxurious atmosphere. Learn more about Fernandina Beach.

Fernandina Beach, Florida Real Estate

Fernandina Beach takes luxury oceanfront living to new heights. Living in Fernandina Beach means that you’re always steps away from retail and dining opportunities, and—of course—the water.

Within the area, you’ll find several popular neighborhoods, including the Historic District (which offers both a mix of traditional style beach homes and Contemporary residences) and Northend (where you’ll find luxurious estates on sprawling lots, or gorgeous homes located right on the waterfront).

Although primarily single-family homes, there are a select few condominium complexes in the area. These are not the staggering skyrises of the big city, but instead are smaller and more luxurious builds, typically located close to the beach. Amenities vary, but some of the most luxurious condos for sale in Fernandina Beach include the most spectacular ocean views, parking and storage, and private pool access.

The homes for sale in Fernandina Beach, as previously mentioned, are built in a range of styles and are also available at a range of price points. Homes located close or on the waterfront are extremely desirable and sell at higher price points.

Many of the homes in the downtown Fernandina Beach area, to compliment the historic atmosphere, are built in more traditional styles. Those looking for a beach home with charm and character will find many desirable properties here.

Fernandina Beach also has a selection of luxury properties. These homes are not usually built in the ultra-Contemporary styles that luxury homes often are, but instead take inspiration from traditional architecture. That being said, these homes are often equipped with contemporary interior upgrades—pool sometimes included!

Fernandina Beach Highlights and Attractions

Fernandina Beach attracts those who long for oceanfront living and a small-town atmosphere. The city’s 50-block historic district is situated alongside the Amelia River, whilst the Northend neighborhood is close to the island’s largest historic park.

There’s much to see and do in Fernandina Beach, no matter your interests. Many of the area’s best shops and restaurants are located on Centre Street in the Historic District

The city is also home to the Amelia Island Museum of History and the Amelia Island Lighthouse, the latter being the oldest existing lighthouse in Florida. Those fascinated by history will enjoy what attractions the island has to offer. There are a multitude of historic buildings one can visit, including the Old Train Depot—now the city’s welcome center— and the Nassau County Courthouse: a historic, Classical Revival-style building constructed in the late-1800s.

Golfers in particular will enjoy the Amelia River Golf Club and Fernandina Golf Club. However, if golf is not one of your interests, there are several other outdoor activities around the city. With green spaces and trails scattered throughout the area, such as Main Beach Park, Fernandina Beach’s biggest attraction is Fort Clinch State Park and the Museum at Fort Clinch.

Fernandina Beach also hosts several events throughout the year, including the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival, which happens every May.
